Room 417, Thursday evening

It's becoming apparent to Jaye that she's not really getting out enough, save for that little side trip to the Sin the other day which was not for sex purposes thank you, but rather bothering-the-hookers purposes.

If she thinks too hard about that, she might end up putting in a call to Dr. Ron.

But she doesn't wanna, so she's hanging in her room with the door closed and actually reading her spam mail. She really should think too hard about that, because that's a sure sign she needs to get out.

Because he's Jack, he actually gets more help than Jaye's usual trick of taking the ice cream and leaving them with the rest. She holds the door open, taking the stuff off the top at least because she doesn't want to risk him dropping the TV. "Wow, look who's prepared," she grins.

"Thank you," he said, gracing her with a warm smile. "Prepared to raid the common rooms, anyway. As far as I'm concerned, if it's in a common room, and it's doesn't have a name on it, it's fair game." He set the TV on Jaye's desk, and dropped the chips next to it. "But I might replace the ice cream."

"Ice cream is a total free-for-all," she says, shaking her head as she opens up the salsa. "It's one of the great laws of shared spaces. If it's not labeled, and in some parts of the world, if there aren't legal forms proving it's yours, you're allowed to swipe it and feel good about it."

"I don't know if I've ever told you this? But I love the way you think." Jack snagged the ice cream and pried the lid off, reaching into his back pocket to grab the spoons he'd also liberated from the common room. "Here," he said, digging out a spoonful and holding it out towards her. "It looks like the good stuff, too."

She tries it, making a little satisfied face. "We may need to write a thank you note. Or at least a 'Hey you, buy this kind again' note."

"Good plan. Except whoever's it is will probably buy the cheap kind next time, to keep it from being borrowed," he pointed out, trying the ice cream for himself. "Yup, gorgeous. Now, TV." He stuck the spoons in the ice cream and ducked under the desk to plug in the TV, arranging it so it could be seen from the bed. "There. TV, snacks, a comfy bed to laze around on, and did you find some good colours?"

"I don't have the best selection, but," she says, and retrieves the bottles she selected to show them off. "I'm even giving you a choice. Any preferences?"

Jack looked at them carefully, giving it the serious consideration that such an important choice deserved. Then grinned. "All three. Pink for my toes, and alternate the other two on my fingers. What do you think?"

"I think I like my portable Jack," she says, keeping all three bottles in her hand and grabbing the bag of lime chips and salsa. "I'm ready for lounging. You?"

"More than ready." Jack scooped up the other bag of chips, the ice cream, and the remote control. "Lead the way, Jaye," he said gesturing in the general direction of the bed.

Jaye sits cross-legged on the bed, putting the chips down before sticking the pillows in a good lounging position, and waves him over. "Get comfy. It's good for nail-painting."

Toeing off his shoes, Jack settled next to her, relaxing against the pillows. "I'm kind of excited. I've never had my nails painted before," he explained as he propped the ice cream up between them and passed over the remote control.

"I'm so pleased to be part of a Jack Harkness first," she says, grinning before she starts flipping channels. "I'll even let you pick what we watch, too. Or, at least have a say in it."

"And that's not something many people can say," he laughed, grabbing a spoonful of ice cream. "I'm easy with anything, but I'd vote for something with people being incredibly stupid."

"Most Extreme Elimination Challenge I had better not have a reason to meta that isn't on tonight, I checked," she says immediately, skipping past any serial dramas that might actually be good television. "But maybe a movie that makes us bemoan the loss of an actor's career..."

"Or question why they got a job in the first place." Jack grinned. "I don't actually know any actors from this time period, so I'll have to place myself in your hands."

"None? I didn't actually know you weren't from now." Jaye stops on A Couple Adequate Males and looks at him, asking, "It's actually a good movie, but the lead actor went crazy and so he's fun for snark now."

"Crazy actors and snarking works for me. Ice Cream?" he offered, holding out the tub. "See, this is why we need to trade life stories. I'm from the fifty-first century."

Jaye grabs one of the spoons to dip into the ice cream. "Seriously? That's kind of awesome. Tell me they have coffee again by then."

"When do they run out of coffee?" he asked, trying to remember if he'd ever heard of a coffee shortage. "It's hard to imagine anyone would make it to my time if there wasn't any coffee."

"2009," she replies immediately. "Alec said. I blame the government."

"I have no idea what happened in 2009. That's ancient history to me. And I'm not from earth, either. I wonder..." Jack sucked thoughfully on another spoonful of ice cream. "Maybe the lack of coffee is what drove people into space?"

"Ooh," she says. "Like colonies on Mars and stuff? Because I'll totally pick up and move off to Coruscant if there's no coffee." Luke had some, it had to be available out there...

"Yup, only more so." Jack grinned and stretched out his foot to poke Jaye gently in the leg, wiggling his toes at her. "By my time humanity's spread all over the universe and most of them have a little bit alien in them. Everyone has coffee, though."

Jaye takes the hint, uncapping the bottle and bending down to start painting Jack's toes. "I should have known the human race couldn't do without coffee completely," she says, and is a little glad for that. Maybe they reinvented it or something. "So you're like two-fifteenths alien or something?"
