Jaye's happy enough to have her toaster back. Even if it does have a face. It's on her desk, nice and silent, while she doodles a plan for world domination in her notebook.

No, seriously. She can doodle. It's not like she's gonna do anything about it. It's just a plan for world domination through slacking anyway.

Rory bouncily knocked on Jaye's door, a notepad and recorder in hand, and a pen stuck in her hair.

Jaye turns around in her chair and waves at her. "Hey. You have something in your hair."

"It's a pen. I wanted to know if you're up for that journalism thingy I handwavily asked about," Rory said, holding up the recorder.

"Oh, yeah," she says, gesturing for her to sit down. The bed's open. Jaye likes the chair. "Shoot."

Rory sat on the bed, flipping on the recorder. "Okay, first question. Tell me about your family."

"I don't like to gossip," says Jaye.

"...this is an interview. I'm not asking for personal details," Rory said, sighing. "Brothers? Sisters? Parents still together?"

Jaye sighs. "Parents together, one older sister, one older brother. I'm the only normal one in the bunch."

The toaster on the desk looks straight at Rory and says, "Hi."

Rory stared at the toaster. "...hi."

Jaye looks at Rory, and then back to the sheep. "...Did you just talk to my toaster?"

"It talked to me first!" Rory said, pointing at the toaster.

Jaye glares at the toaster. "Did you talk to Rory?" she demands.

The toaster ignores Jaye.

And asks Rory, "How's your day been?"

"Fine," Rory said, blinking. She turned to Jaye. "Why is your toaster talking to me?"

"I... don't know. Toasters shouldn't talk," she says. "But seriously? You hear it talking?"

"Uh huh," Rory said, nodding. "It asked me how my day was."

"It didn't... tell you to do anything when I wasn't listening, did it?"

Rory shook her head. "It's being very pleasant."

Jaye glares at the toaster. "Oh, sure, you're plesant to her," she hisses.

And ignoring it, she says, "So yeah, crazy family. Yeah."

"How are they crazy?" Rory asked, eyeing the toaster.

"They're nuts," she says. "I don't know. They just are. Don't encourage the toaster. They're this close to Stepford. Only with a housekeeper."

"...okay, why did you come to Fandom, then?" Rory asked.

[fates_jaye]

"Because... I kinda..." Got arrested once or twice because of my psychosis sounds bad, so she says, "My parents decided I was falling in with a bad crowd. My sister thinks you're all juvenile delinquents."
