Wonderfalls- Niagara Falls, NY- Sunday afternoon

Jaye was at work. Which meant that she was present, but not so much that she was actually doing anything. Naturally.

She'd gotten a job in a gift shop by the falls, which barely paid enough to pay for her trailer, but at least she got to snark on tourists. Not that there were many around right now, because it was freezing in most areas of the country and giant waterfalls were probably not a big draw right now. So she was keeping herself "busy" by rearranging knickknacks. Or she was picking them up and putting them right back down in the same place again, whatever.

Jaye went ahead and answered her phone, ignoring the dirty look she got from the Mouthbreather. He was a coworker, and his name was Alec, and there were Reasons she wasn't ever going to associate him with that name.

"Yeah?"

"Hey, Mom. Can't tell a guy when you moved?" OJ greeted her, trying out the bed with a little bounce.

"Oh, god, are you there?" Jaye said. "I thought you weren't supposed to come back when I was gone."

"Well, the portals don't obey your rules," OJ pointed out.

"They should. Where are you now?" she asked, heading to the break room. She wasn't on break. Didn't care.

"The hotel. The Presidential Suite," OJ said. Was he sounding smug? Because he was smug.

Jaye paused.

"How are you in the Presidential Suite?"

"You trained me well," he said, flopping backwards on the bed.

Another pause, and then, "Are you making me pay for this?"

"Not you you. My you," OJ said. "You're my parent, you kind of have to pay for my room and board. Isn't that like a legal thing?"

"Pretty sure that doesn't mean the Presidential Suite," Jaye sighed, a little offended on behalf of her other, clearly crazier self. "At least you didn't get the stripper pole suite."

"There's a stripper pole suite?"

"It doesn't come with strippers included," Jaye told him. "Calm down, teenage boy. Ew."

"It's the natural question to that!" he insisted.

He would not even know what to do with a stripper anyway.

"Still gross coming from my alternate universe kid," Jaye said as she heard the Mouthbreather start banging on the door to the break room. "Ugh. I'm at work. I have to go before he has a conniption fit. I'll try and get there tomorrow? Seriously, a little warning next time."

"I make no promises. See you maybe tomorrow!" OJ said, and hung up.

...Who else could he call from here? Hmmm.
