Room 417, Monday night

Jaye's vegging, trolling through bad Vanessa Saturn fanfic and occasionally looking over at her laundry like she's expecting it to get up and do itself. It's Fandom. It might.


Jaye picks up, checking the caller ID first. "Hey there!"

"You spend too much time in Photoshop," Mahandra greets her.

"I do not," Jaye says. "I didn't even have to sharpen pictures."

"Liar. You did not go to another planet."

"I did so. I even bought you stuff."

"Are you sure you don't mean 'sold you a bridge'?"

"No. Seriously. That's a real library in there. I still have to show the pics to Rory," Jaye tells her.

"I'm totally looking through Google right now for these pictures."

"You should be glad I'm not dead. They wanted me to fly a spaceship."

"Are you on drugs?"

Jaye frowns. "Why does everyone always ask me that? No! I'm serious. I hung out, I shopped, I took pictures, I went to a bar with two hot Jedi, one of them being my first choice for a prom date."

Mahandra pauses. "That guy again?"

"Uh huh."

"Ooh."

"I know. So yes, I went to another planet and it was actually a lot of fun."

"I so don't believe you."

"You have photographic evidence!" Jaye reminds her.

"I have Photoshop!"

Jaye blows into the phone.

"What the hell was that?" Mahandra asks, sounding startled.

"Must be getting static. Talk to you later?"

"Sure," Mahandra says.

"Cool. Bye." And then she hangs up the phone.


She'll call back tomorrow and have a normal conversation, but right now she's just adding this to the list of things she's just not going to talk about with normal people. Seriously, it's getting to be a big list.

Rory found herself wandering up to the fourth floor on her walk with Vladdie.

So she knocked on Jaye's door, remembering she needed to hear about how Coruscant went.

"Enter," Jaye calls, dropping the phone onto the table next to her bed.

Rory poked her head in. "Hi, I heard you didn't score with Obi-Wan."

"Didn't really think I was gonna," she says, waving her in. "But there was drinking and it was fun."

Rory hopped in, and Vladdie yipped a hello as he raced around on his leash. "Anakin toldme there was drinking, yeah, but still. It could've happened. Did you really trick the baby Jedi into crying?"

"I didn't have to trick anyone," she says. "Hi, Vladdie. I asked if anyone could cry on cue and like, four volunteered."

"I taught them Manilow last time," Rory said proudly, trying to rein Vladdie in. "Did they do any singing for you?"

Jaye grins. "So you're the one who taught them about Lola? Nice job! They serenaded Obi-wan with it."

"Do you know the story behind it?" Rory asked, raising an eyebrow. "It might shatter your image of him."

"I have an action figure. You can't shatter the image of someone who's immortalized of plastic pieces," she says, and then adds, "This bitchy little girl gave me one. She was awesome."

"There was a bitchy little girl when you bought your action figure of Obi-Wan the crossdresser?"

Jaye blinks. "Um?"

"Obi-Wan got very drunk once, according to Anakin, and would only answer to Lola. And he wore a skirt," Rory explained. "That's why there was the Manilow."

Since they've been back, Alec hasn't seen anything of Jaye. So it's perfectly reasonable to go see if she's still alive or if she's pined to death over the Jedi guy.

He knocks on her door when he gets there and waits.

This time, Jaye actually gets up from the bed to get the door herself. "Hey," she grins, opening it wider to let him in.

He grins back. "Glad to see you're alive." Alec's got something under his arm when he walks inside, like a book maybe, and he turns to look at her maybe a little expectantly. "You okay with being back on earth?"

She closes the door, shrugging. "Well, most people are back to sucking, but I'll probably never turn down a visit from someone who doesn't. Whatcha got there?"

Alec glances down at what he's holding, then sits on her bed first, grinning up at her. "Come over here and I'll show you."

Jaye sits next to him, cross-legged so her knee's against his leg, just a little. "Okay, done my part."

He grins and slides his scrapbook over to her so she can look through it. "We finished Arts and Crafts today."

Jaye's giggling as soon as she sees the cover. "Okay, you're awesome," she says, opening the book in her lap. "You look like you had fun with this."

"I did," he says, obviously pleased at her reaction. "I never had a scrapbook before, so I wanted to do it right."

"It's good," she tells him, and doesn't think she's ever complimented someone else's work before. "You- Huh. Okay, that's not a bad picture of me."

He looks over and practically beams. "That one's mine. The one I got from Dean is nice too, but I like that one better." Alec leans towards her, resting his shoulder against hers as they look at the book.

She looks up at him and smiles before looking back at the book. "You need to go cute on me more often."
