fates_jaye: (more phone calls)

Jaye gets back from photography, already struggling with her purse in an attempt to get to her cell phone.

"Hello?" Jaye asks, trying to get the phone before the person hangs up rather than check the caller ID.

"Hello, sweetheart," Karen greets her smoothly.

Ack. "Hi, Mom."

"I heard from Mahandra that you were coming back into town next weekend?"

Ack ack. "Well, you know, it's her birthday," Jaye winces, already facepalming. At herself or the conversation, maybe both.

"I'm sure I just missed your call," Karen continues. "Or there's something wrong with the answering machine. Or my voicemail."

"I was going to call," says Jaye, who totally wasn't.

"Well, you'll have to get us all of your travel information so your father can pick you up. You'll get right on that, won't you?"

There goes staying at Mahandra's. Dammit. "Yeah, right on it."

"Good. I'll see you next weekend, then."

"Yeah," Jaye sighs, and hangs up without a goodbye. Maybe she should have warned Mahandra about that not-telling-the-Tylers thing.

[Omg, I have a few hours until I have to be anywhere! Door's open, come play!]

"Man, how much did you have? You looked too coordinated on stage for you to have been that drunk when you got up there." Alec grinned, toning his voice down maybe a little.

"I'd only had a couple before...um... fulfilling the bet," Dean said. "Most the drinking came after."

"Bet?" Alec perked up. "What bet was this?"

"In archery class we had to run the same gauntlet we did in detention that one week. Except this time we were armed. And not dressed in silly costumes. Sammy and I had a bet that the one who shot the other got to pick a song for the loser to sing." Dean grimaced. "We shot each other at the same time."

"Smooth," he said, grinning. "Should I even bother to ask why you both didn't just say you won and not sing?"

"And miss the chance to make Sammy sing the Village People?" Dean snorted, then winced. "That was worth a little making a fool of myself."

"Was apparently your funeral," Alec shrugged. "Judging by how bright and cheerful you seem today, anyway."

"I should've got you drunk when you were in my body," Dean told him. "Then maybe you'd appreciate a hangover."

"And I would have felt you up shamelessly, if your drunken behavior is anything to go by," he said with a snort.

Dean rolled his eyes. "Are you ever going to let that go?"

"You're the one who keeps bringing it up."
