Room 417, Wednesday afternoon

Jaye gets back from photography, already struggling with her purse in an attempt to get to her cell phone.



"Hello?" Jaye asks, trying to get the phone before the person hangs up rather than check the caller ID.

"Hello, sweetheart," Karen greets her smoothly.

Ack. "Hi, Mom."

"I heard from Mahandra that you were coming back into town next weekend?"

Ack ack. "Well, you know, it's her birthday," Jaye winces, already facepalming. At herself or the conversation, maybe both.

"I'm sure I just missed your call," Karen continues. "Or there's something wrong with the answering machine. Or my voicemail."

"I was going to call," says Jaye, who totally wasn't.

"Well, you'll have to get us all of your travel information so your father can pick you up. You'll get right on that, won't you?"

There goes staying at Mahandra's. Dammit. "Yeah, right on it."

"Good. I'll see you next weekend, then."

"Yeah," Jaye sighs, and hangs up without a goodbye. Maybe she should have warned Mahandra about that not-telling-the-Tylers thing.

"Drunk people are funny," Jaye tells him wisely. "I know, I've been one of them."

"Well I'm sure we were excessively dull," Dean assured her.

She shakes her head. "Last time there was boykissy. I don't believe you guys being drunk can be dull."

"Actually last time there was drinking because there was boykissy," Dean clarified.

"You sure you didn't do anything embarrassing?" Jaye asks. "No falling down, no dancing, nothing like that...?"

"Nope, nothing embarrassing," Dean confirmed. "Not when we were drunk."

"You sang sober?" Jaye asks innocently.

"Who mentioned singing?"

Jaye just smiles a lot. "Is there video? You'd make my whole life if you told me there's video."

"God, I hope not."

"Seriously? Sober?"

"Well, two beers. So maybe buzzed."

"Makes me wonder what you'd do when seriously trashed," she muses, already thinking of things she could make him wear. A tutu, for instance. She should invest in one.

"It had nothing to do with drinking," Dean told her. "It was a bet."
