What if...

Sometime after her break had ended, Jaye got a phone call. She took another break from work to answer it, and wished she hadn't when she found out it was from her insurance company.

"Yes, apparently you were in an accident last night and didn't report it?" the woman said.

"Well, barely an accident. I tapped his car," Jaye said. "Barely."

"Because his estimate says that it may be upwards of two thousand dollars in damage."

Her jaw dropped. "No way! Seriously, I tapped his car. It was like the car version of a love tap!"

"Which, unfortunately, is going to raise your premiums as you've had... wow, a lot of accidents in the last year." She'd lived in LA, that was her excuse. "And he's saying that his neck and shoulder have been bothering him. He has a doctor's note from the ER."

"He wasn't even in the car!" Jaye protested.

"Can you say this for certain?"

"I mean, I don't have like, photographic proof, but unless he was in the backseat doing dirty things, I didn't see him. In which case he's got more things to worry about like why he's not doing dirty things at home instead of his backseat."

And it went on like this. And on.

So yesterday I had to drop everything to go driving up to the Apple Store because my power cord stopped working. Got a new one, everything was peachy. Except when I came home from work I figured out that hey, guess what, I just dropped $85 for nothing cuz the power cord wasn't the problem.

Not sure when I can take my laptop in to get fixed, but for now I am on my desktop. You know, the one that was so slow and was in such bad shape that I had to get a laptop to replace it. I'm in the process of downloading Firefox and AIM and all that, so hopefully my availability shouldn't be too much of a problem, but I may be very very very slow till everything gets fixed.

Also I have no touchpad. I don't know how to deal with that.
fates_jaye: (yeah that's interesting)
Jaye was not at her parents' Thanksgiving this year. No, she was at her parents' friends' Thanksgiving this year, which for all she could gather had been arranged solely to hook Sharon up with their oldest son. Which 1) NO, and 2) he was spending more time leering at Jaye, which she hadn't signed on for.

because it's not thanksgiving for me without a jaye post )
fates_jaye: (sow- it's toooootally jaye)
Jaye had had a bad morning, what with the being driven off a cliff, and the subsequent reconstructive surgery at an exclusive Swiss clinic, and today, now that she was finally at home, she could take the bandages off.

As the dramatic music swelled, the bandages slowly came off, and Jaye looked at her perfectly made-up brand new face in the mirror.

Okay, she was sort of hot. Still, she might have to go evil, or something, because of this.

[What the hell, open if you want.]

Jaye didn't notice anything at first when she woke up. She'd missed out on most of the Fandom weirdness that everyone else had experienced, which was fine by her, since it meant that she could spend her time laughing and taking pictures instead. It was a really good arrangement for her.

It wasn't until she got up to go drag her sleepy self into the shower and passed her mirror that she noticed that something was a little off. Like oh, her boobs were gone, her hair was suddenly short, and bye bye to all her usual girl features. And- oh god, she had to check. She closed her eyes, pulled the waistband of her sleep pants away from her body, and took a deep breath before looking down.

The screech of "HOW IS THIS EVEN FAIR?" had her mother knocking on her door a moment later. "Jaye, honey? Is everything all right?"

"No-" Oh, hey, that wasn't her voice, either. Jaye cleared her throat, trying to raise her voice a couple octaves, which still sounded a lot like a boy trying to sound like a girl and failing. "I have the plague, go away," she tried, and rushed forward to lock the door suddenly when it occurred to her to do so.

Well, this was just great. Now she was going to have to wait for everyone to go to work and school before she could raid Aaron's closet.

[Open if you want to talk to boy!Jaye. When I wake up, of course.]

Welcome to Jaye Tyler's life post-Fandom. Again.

See, there was an issue with randomly transferring schools on short notice like she'd tried to do: schools didn't work that way. And it didn't really bother her that she couldn't sit in classes all day till next semester. No, that wasn't bothering her at all.

It was the fact that she'd gotten all the way back to Niagara Falls and found that out and thusly had to move back in at home that bothered her. A lot.

i've been meaning to do this for weeks, people )

[Establishy, unless someone really really really wants to break up family time via phone call.]

Jaye was having a weird day. Which was why she was sitting on the sofa in front of the TV, occasionally licking her hand and seeing if she felt any sort of buzz from the beer flavor. Nothing so far. Maybe this meant that she'd actually ingested so much alcohol at this point that she'd become supersaturated. Which would be kind of awesome.

And from her coffee table, she heard the wax lion say something that sounded a lot like "Go Brown."

"Shut up," Jaye told it. "You're just jealous you don't taste like beer."
fates_jaye: (wee!jaye- thoughtful)
Jaye woke up bright and early, way earlier than she usually did. The first thing she noticed was how huge the bed was, and so trying to get out of it pretty much meant she fell out, and then quickly stood up to make sure no one saw that. Still, maybe she could get a band-aid out of it.

The phone started ringing, which meant she had to race to get it before anyone else, not yet realizing she was alone in the apartment. She found the phone on a table and picked it up with an almost polite, "Hello?" This was probably the only age where Jaye could be associated with the word 'polite'.

"Jaye? You're not Jaye. I need to talk to my sister," Sharon said from the other line. "God, please don't tell me anyone let her babysit. It's a miracle you're not in jail already."

She frowned. "You talk too much," she declared, and then with Sharon still protesting, Jaye hid the phone under a couch cushion and decided to go about her day where there were no phones.

[Establishy! YAY WEETINY.]
fates_jaye: (oh boy! sleep)
The last thing Jaye remembered was being eaten by a land shark at the radio station. And then she woke up in her bed. So obviously the beer falling from the sky had been spiked with something, or she totally, actually fell for the land shark thing.

"Karma sucks," she muttered, and a moment later to the animal-filled room at large, added, "No one say a thing!"

When Mahandra called, she probably shouldn't have asked, "What are you doing?"

Because Jaye's answer was, "Nothing. Sniffing my hair."

"...Why are you sniffing your hair?" Call that the standard response.

"I have no idea," Jaye said. "I just noticed it smells really good."

"New shampoo?"

"Nope. I don't know."

"Huh. So Ijust got off work, and I have to tell you about this guy I had to deal with, and- Um, Jaye? Did I just hear you sniffing your hair?"

"No."

"Well, anyway, he came in, demanded atable even though we were busy, and okay I know I heard it that time."

"I can't help it," Jaye protested. "I'm trying to figure out what it smells like. Seriously, it's really good."

"I'm going to leave you two alone," Mahandra decided. "Call me later."

"Got it," Jaye agreed before hanging up. And sniffing again, she actually had to ask aloud, "Is that pomegranate? Why the hell would I smell like pomegranate?"

[Welcome to my last two days. Open, I guess, if you wanna visit the girl above the theater.]

Oh look, that time of year again. Time to pick the seven people who are going to be bringing your characters all the dirty details of the BDE's, weetiny invasions, and who's hooking up with who. Whee. =D

Anyone with a character in town (teachers, townies, students, on-island alumni) are able to vote. You can totally vote for yourself, but please let the votes be IC and not who you just wanna see in it. Voting will remain open till midnight PST tonight, Sunday May 25, so get your votes in.

Up for the slots are:

And of course, if I did anything wrong, please to be smacking me, k?

Jaye was spending her Saturday night packing. A bunch of her stuff she'd sent ahead, though let's see how Portalocity handled that, those bastards. And as much as she didn't mind LA (it was weird, which she liked, but it was weird), it would be nice to get back to Fandom (which was also weird).

Maybe she should have let her parents knew she was moving to a different state.

[Open if the LA residents want to show. Jaye'll be heading off in the AM.]
fates_jaye: (happy jaye)
Jaye came back to her room, listening to her voicemail and cursing herself out that she hadn't managed drunk dials at Rory and Anakin's wedding. Maybe next time. In fact, she'd make it a mission next time. If she felt like it.

And while listening, she tossed the mail in her hands into two piles: magazines and 'things I don't want to deal with', which covered all else. When she saw the one letter addressed to her in writing she didn't really recognize, she was more curious to figure out what the lumpy things inside were rather than who sent it.

The glee over getting to go back to Fandom, though, was dampered by the following thought: "Wait, summer job?"
fates_jaye: (well then)
Jaye had a hard night, and once the cab dropped her off and she'd paid a very large tab with Kristine's credit card, she just wanted to go back up to her room and crash very hard. And maybe ditch class so she could sleep in. Mmmm ditching.

However, she needed to check one more thing before she had to get started on that ditching and sleeping thing, and so she checked her voicemail.

And decided there was no way to top that, and he'd have to tell her who won. Even if she was sure he'd lie.
fates_jaye: (just jaye)
Two hours in a car with Kristine.

Two hours in a car with Kristine, who was drunk and kept either nodding off or sobbing about how much she missed Don- Jaye could have sworn the bf's name was Dan- and even the cab driver kept reminding them that the meter was running and that he didn't have all night. If it wasn't for the fact that her lion in her purse kept telling her to get her home, she'd have ditched her about eight times by now. It wasn't like Kristine was a friend. More like a one night only drinks sugar momma.

cut as this part got long )
fates_jaye: (glare)
About an hour after dragging Kristine from the bar, they were still driving around. Because Kristine couldn't remember how to get to where she lived, and it wasn't like Jaye knew. And considering she wasn't paying for any of this, she wouldn't have cared if it didn't mean riding in the back of a cab with a drunk girl who kept trying to pass out rather than give the driver any actual instructions, or an address.

cut because hey this keeps going )
fates_jaye: (jaye (this time with lights!))
All right, so going out Sunday night when she had class and work on Monday was not the smartest move Jaye could have made. But Kristine, one of the girls from Philosophy had just broken up with her boyfriend and decided Jaye was the one to tell her like it is and then after about eight refusals offered to pay for all Jaye's drinks and there she was.

cut because i can )
fates_jaye: (oh boy! sleep)
The animals had started singing late, thusly waking her up. That was around two am. She finally got to sleep around five when she stuck in some earplugs and risked suffocation by piling pillows on top of her head.

This meant that she finally woke up around ten or so, knocking the pillows off her head as she sat up. "WOULD YOU STOP ALREADY?" she demanded.

They all stopped, except for that one overly enthusiastic, off-key snake.

"You see what you do to me? I dream that bears are leaving me voicemails now. I blame you," she accused.

[Establishy, la]
fates_jaye: (whatever)
Wednesday saw Jaye on campus, which wasn't a surprise.

However, the small card table she'd set up with several small bottles of sunscreen the sign reading "BOTTLES OF CRAZY, $5 $4 $4.50 $4.25 $2" might have been.

It was prety much a dare, but she was also using it as a social experiment to see whether or not anything actually sold. So far she was figuring that most of the people either actually thought it was a sociology or marketing project, or they knew who Jaye was and knew to just go with it. She seemed to be getting a rep.

The rep probably didn't improve when she started snapping back at her talking purse, either. Not did it help her make sales of crazy bottles.
fates_jaye: (with karen)
Technically, Jaye was on the phone. Well, okay, she was on the phone, it was just that she wasn't actually listening. She was channel surfing and that really took all her focus right now.

"I really wish you had at least tried to come home," Karen was saying. "If not for your birthday, than for the holiday."

"I really couldn't, Mom. School and all, you know." Not that Jaye had classes till like, Wednesday. Was it Wednesday? She'd have to check.

"Tell me you're at least spending it with people and not being antisocial like usual."

"Oh, don't worry, I have plans." Like printing off and attaching labels to bottles of crazy. And maybe seeing if her fake ID would come in handy now that it said she was twenty-two. "I'm totally fine here. You know, Mom, I have to go. Happy Earth Day or whatever."

"Easter, Jaye," Karen said, half-sighing.

"Sure, okay. Bye, Mom."

And once she hung up, it was time to find something on TV.
