The causeway, Wednesday night

After leaving Caritas, Jaye heads back up to the causeway, drops her bags on the ground, and sits on them while she waits for the cab.

And she dials a number.


There's a sigh when Sharon picks up. "It took you this long to call? Are you here yet?"

"No, I'm still in Fandom," Jaye says.

"...What? What time does your bus get in?

"With Fandom timezones, I dunno, like four? Five?"

"AM?"

"No, PM," Jaye snarks. "God."

"You want me to come get you at five in the morning? Jaye, it's Thursday! I have to work tomorrow!"

"So does everyone else in the world, Sharon. Get with it."

"Jaye, no-"

"I have Hot Mountie your phone number. I'll call when I get in. Bye!"


And she hangs up right in time for the cab to pull up.

The driver puts her bags in the trunk, and Jaye gets into the backseat with the ant farm in her lap before the car drives away from Fandom.
