Room 417, Monday morning

Jaye had a pretty good weekend, what with all the wee children running around so she can maybe potentially embarrass them as adults. When she wakes up, she's totally prepared to head over to the Photo Hut to get the pictures developed, but she feels just a little off somehow.

And when she rubs her eye, she noticed her hand doesn't feel the way it should. In fact, upon opening her eyes, it doesn't look the way it should, either.

Oh, crap.

Jaye gets out of bed and heads into the bathroom to look at herself in the mirror.

The "AIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" might be heard the rest of the way down the fourth floor.


[I've decided Jaye is a stick figure. She looks like the icon. What? I haven't done anything cracky with her in a while.]

"I don't know!" she says, flailing with stick arms. "I just woke up like this! I have no opposable thumbs!"

Isabel stepped back out of the way of the flailing. Stick figure fingers were pointy and could possibly put an eye out. "Maybe it'll wear off soon?"

"Before class, you think?" Jaye asks hopefully.

"Do you really think you'd be that lucky?" she asked.

"Maybe?" No, she doesn't. "Okay, maybe I can just hide out till it wears off?"

"You could but then you might get in trouble for missing class," Isabel pointed out. "Besides, you'll miss out on your teacher being flaily about the weekend."

Jaye opens her mouth to protest, but says, "Damn. You know, that is more embarrassing than being a stick...."

"Exactly. You're still you. You just look a little different," she nodded. "It's not like you're going to run around randomly looking for hugs or anything now."

Jaye looks at her arm and says, "People might break me that way."

"I'd worry more about someone with an eraser."

Jaye's eyes go really wide.

Well, or she gets those little curvy lines around her eyes as stick figures do to show that they're wide.

"But no one would do that to you," Isabel said quickly, feeling bad. "And if they do, let me know. I'll turn them purple or something for you."

"I'll remember that," she says. "What if I get smudged?"

"Ummm...maybe if you avoid rubbing into things?"

Jaye stands entirely still with her arms out so she isn't touching anything. "Oh, yeah, this is going to be interesting."

"Slowly and carefully should probably be your words of the day," Isabel advised. "You should also probably avoid soap and water."

"...So, bathing would be out," says Jaye, suddenly wondering if stick figures can start to smell.

"Well it's not like you have actual pores to worry about."

"Yeah, but what about my hair?" she asks, pointing at the thicker brown lines drawn on top of her head.
