Room 417, Friday afternoon

Jaye had meant to leave her room. She did. She'd decided she'd seen far too much of America's Next Top Model and needed to leave, but she'd only managed to open the door before she decided she had to know who won the last cycle and whether anyone fell down on the runway.

And now she's stitting cross-legged on the bed, completely unable to leave the room. She's debating popcorn, but the commercial breaks aren't long enough.

"Next time Nathan gets on me about nursing, I'm telling him this is my backup plan," Peter said.

"Nursing?" she says, looking over. "You know thanks to these chicks I'm picturing you in the nurse getup now, thanks."

"Do I look better or worse than Seely in a skirt?" Peter asked.

"Hm. In my head your legs are pretty good, but they're a little idealized, so I'd have to say better," she says thoughtfully.

"I try not to brag too much about my legs," Peter said. "The other nurses get jealous."

"Let's see," she challenges. "Roll 'em up."

Peter laughed, figured what the hell, and stretched a leg out in front of him so he could push his pants up to the knee.

"Ooh, very nice," she says, making an "ooh" face. "And I have to say, better than Seely's."

Peter grinned. "I'll have to tell him next time I see him."

"So you're all making friends here, huh?" she says. "Or enemies, maybe?"

"So far nothing but friends," Peter said. "My roommate's a little touchy, but I'm trying to give him space. I live across the hall, by the way. 416."

"Oh, hey neighbor. Who's your roommate?" The sad thing is, the roommate could have been here for a full year now and Jaye would not have noticed that they live right there.

"Kyo," Peter said. "He's new like me."

"So if he's touchy I'm going to have to mess with him, huh?"

Peter chuckled. "Now I didn't say that."

"Yeah, but I notice you also didn't say not to," she points out.

Peter looked innocent.

"That's a really good innocent face," she says. "I'm gonna remember you when I need an alibi."

"You were here for me and the bedazzled cockroaches," Peter said. "I owe you one."

"Seriously, America's Next Top Model, what the hell."

"This is the dumbest thing ever," Peter agreed.

"...so when's the next season start?"

"No idea, but they're marathonning up to season seven or whatever, and if I can't find the new season's premiere date on Google there's always Australia's Next Top Model. Same drama, now with cooler accents."

"When's that on?" Peter asked.

"March," she nods. "I didn't see a date or time, but they keep saying March. Are you going to watch?" She might be a little proud if the answer is yes.
