Aeryn Sun is from Farscape, one of those awesome shows canceled before its time. In canon she's a Peacekeeper commando, tossed out of the military for standing up for John Crichton. At FH, she's a much younger Peacekeeper cadet, tossed out of the military because she learned enough in Fandom to disobey a direct order. She returned here and is kind of restarting her life there.

Appearance-wise, she's got long black hair, she's tall, clearly spends a lot of time in the gym, and wears a lot of black. She is never seen without a silver ring on her left hand. It looks like a wedding ring, but it's not omg. She speaks a little differently, using different words for units of time and for cursing (they cursing is pretty easy to figure out), and sounds like a good mix of British/Australian in her accent. Also, she's got translator microbes that allow her to hear any language as her own. It's caught people up once or twice. *g*

She's born and bred military, so she's a very good fighter along with being a bit prone to violence (she's curbed it a little at FH as I would like her to not get expelled), and is a little attached to her weaponry. She's also not human; she's Sebacean, which is a genetic offshoot, really, but except for being stronger and having better senses, there are no obvious differences. She can be cold and bitchy and moody and she's very used to saying she'll shoot people who annoy her. She is also very loyal to those she trusts, surprisingly bright, worries about not fitting in, and will always at least try to do the right thing. She's come pretty far in mellowing out in the past few months, which hopefully makes her a little easier to get along with and more approachable. For the most part.

Jaye Tyler is from Wonderfalls, one of those awesome shows canceled before its time. (Notice a theme?) On the show, she's a 24-year-old shopclerk at a Niagara Falls gift shop who's overeducated and underemployed and is kind of meh about that. She's the black sheep of her family, and there's nothing really special about her until a smushed-face wax lion suddenly starts telling her to do things. My Jaye is pre-show canon, so this all kind of happened early for her.

So yeah, that's Jaye's whole big thing. Any inanimate animal, be it a brass monkey bookend, a cow on a carton of milk, a stuffed animal, it doesn't matter, it can all talk to her and tell her to do weird things in cryptic ways. She has to obey them or things kind of go wrong (or end up happening anyway in a couple cases), and ignoring it at FH kind of led to her having just the teensiest of sleep-deprived nervous breakdowns. She's been more tight-lipped here than she is in canon, based on the idea that even in Fandom, no one's going to believe her and the fact that for a while there, people were calling her crazy. That can kind of mess with a girl who thinks she really might be crazy (and since canon never gets to answer the question of whether she is or isn't, I've been ambiguous about it so far), but she is starting to get blabbier with some people.

She can also be considered a good plot device for other people. The offer always stands that if you need a plot furthered and don't know how or just want some crack in there, feel free to ping me and I'm happy to help. Jaye can be made to do just about anything; she's already got a rap sheet thanks to the animals and is totally used to humiliating herself for the greater good. The only thing I ask is for a day's notice, and Jaye's involvement should actually mean something. Otherwise it verges on messing with her canon.and could cause a bit of a "omg if it didn't do anything, why am I doing this?" crisis and I'm wary of playing that without planning it. However, if you really need her, ping me and we can work something out.

The biggest thing is that Jaye doesn't care. The last year's gotten rid of some of that new car smell, so she's become/ing more jaded and meh. She's really smart (she canonically ends up in an Ivy league school) but doesn't care enough to apply herself, only really goes to parties on the off chance someone besides her will get drunk and embarrass themselves, and kind of gets a kick out of messing with people, especially the newbies. She's also going to be pretty obvious about it, though, and she's really not doing it maliciously. Any issues, ping me.




Re: Hermione

Hermione Granger comes from Harry Potter, the most obscure Fandom of all time. Really. She's a Muggle-born witch (her parents are non-magical, and also dentists) who ended up at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry just before her twelfth birthday. Though she must have had no real knowledge of the magical world before getting her acceptance letter, Hermione studied and got to school with a damn good amount of knowledge about it. She's one of the brightest witches of her age (she sucks at flying and Divination, but don't tell her that), which helps since one of her best friends is Harry and someone has to tell him and Ron when they need to shape up.

She's post-GOF, and while she's in Fandom, OOTP is going on without her. Occasionally she has letters to further that, or sticks her head in a fire or something. She also did go back to Grimmauld Place for Christmas, which I unfortunately didn't have time to write up before she got back. Hermione would rather be back at Hogwarts, but her parents wanted her to be safe, so they accidentally sent her somewhere that trolls attack often. Oops. At least she's learned she can practice magic here when needed, and isn't afraid to do it, but can be strongly counted on to be Research Girl.

She's mostly focused on studying, often going hermit-like when she's busy. Like, she's kind of psychotic about it. She panics at failing and in addition to her own classes is trying to keep up with the fifth years at Hogwarts in an attempt to take her O.W.L.'s with her class. See, psychotic. She's not very social and isn't great at making close friends, which is fine with her most of the time. Every once in a while it really starts to bother her, though, so she'll get out and occasionally she'll attempt both things at once. *sighs at her*
