fates_jayeJaye's been a little on the bored side today. She hung out with Mahandra in the morning, then spent part of her afternoon dodging Sharon and Aaron by hiding out in her room and trying to keep busy. Which works for about five minutes.
Finally she heads back downstairs, where Yvette is supposed to be making faux-Thanksgiving dinner, and the rest of the family is being unhelpful.
There's no football, and instead there's Sharon heading outside once again for another cigarette, and Aaron looking bored on the couch, and Jaye can't help but think her Thanksgiving was better. And she hopes that doesn't make her weird for thinking so. "Can I have five bucks?" she asks.
"You don't have your own money?" Darrin asks her.
"That's what parents are for," she says. "My job doesn't need me much, which means my paycheck sucks and it's totally not my fault."
"You need to learn some responsibility," Karen says.
"Yeah, working on that," she says. She's not. "But I need coffee,"
"We have coffee here."
"I've been telling you we needed the espresso maker," Aaron adds.
Jaye nods in agreement.
Karen sighs, and gets up to retrieve her purse. "Honestly, you would think an allowance wouldn't be enough- Where's my money?"
The little stitched horse on Darrin's polo shirt says in a very little voice, "Tell the truth."
Dammit. "I had to give the cab driver money yesterday," she says.
"Drama it up," the horse tells her.
Jaye sighs and rolls her eyes. Before her parents can respond, she says, "He came to the back door all creepy and threatening! I was fearing for my safety. He practically robbed me. I was lucky to escape unscathed."
Her parents are just staring at her.
"It's true!" she says. "I swear. I would not lie about this." Unless told to by a piece of clothing.
Karen goes silent, putting her purse down. "Well, I think that means no coffee," she says.
Jaye sighs and glares at Darrin's shirt.
He finally looks down and asks, "Did I spill something?"
[NFB, like radio isn't already up. And yes, this should have been up sooner. *has kinna been busy*]
