fates_jayeJaye had been bored, at least until the phone rang. Now she's in the middle of a Conversation.
"I don't wanna," Jaye says, eyerolling where no one can see her.
"Normally? I don't want you to come home," Sharon assures her from the other end of the line. "As far as I'm concerned, you can keep on trucking or whatever it is you do. All I know is oh, good god, you are not leaving me alone with them for a holiday."
"Aaron'll be there."
"He doesn't count."
"You know, I do come home kind of often," Jaye says. "Despite every attempt to get away from you people. I don't need to show up."
"No," Sharon tells her, and it sounds like she means business. "You need to show up. You need to take the pressure off the 'Sharon, you really should think about changing your hair' and the 'Sharon, you're looking kind of pale, maybe you should get out more' and the 'One day we'll be doing this with Sharon's own family... maybe' and take your rightful place as family black sheep, dammit!"
"But I don't wanna!" Jaye whines.
"If I have to get in my car, drive through those tiny streets right up to the dorms and hire goons to drag you out by your hair and throw you into the trunk so I can gleefully return you Sunday night, I will do it," Sharon promises.
"You're so kind."
"No, I'm desperate to shift the attention. Have a good night, Jaye, you've got only this much freedom left this month."
Jaye's glaring at the phone when she hangs up, and hating Thanksgiving already with hmmm, how many days left?
[Door's open, should anyone feel like visiting.]
