Jaye's biding her time, waiting for tonight's Supers torrent to come online. Of course, biding her time looks a lot like examining her hair for straight ends. It's probably a good thing the phone rings.
"I'm busy," Jaye says when she picks up the phone.
"I have good news and I have bad news," Sharon tells her.
"Ugh. You again."
"The good news is, I don't have to go to your weird Parents Weekend thing."
"I knew that already," Jaye says.
"The bad news is, I'm stuck going to a weird wedding thing."
"I knew that, too."
Sharon pauses. "Oh. Since when do you actually talk to people about what I do?"
"Mom told me. I tried to stop her," Jaye deadpans.
"Well, anyway, rest assured you're not going to go lonely the whole weekend."
Jaye goes quiet and asks quietly, "Who?"
"They're sending Aaron."
"...Huh." That could maybe possibly be okay. Perhaps. Per chance. Or something.
"Yeah, he's been saying he's been feeling fluish since Mom and Dad first mentioned the wedding," Sharon continues. "And then he told me he'd rather go out there and bug you, so I was more than willing to help him convince our parents that you shouldn't be all alone when all of your little so-called friends have people around. Don't want you growing up all maladjusted."
Jaye frowns into the phone. "How sweet."
"So yeah. I just wanted to give you the happy news."
"Happy for you."
"That's okay by me. Talk to you later," Sharon says, and hangs up.
Jaye hangs up the phone, continuing to frown at it. And then she ends the call, going into her speed dial to make another call.
And then goes back to studying her hair, though in reality she's wondering if she shouldn't just try that drinking thing again this weekend.
[Open. Hey, it's not like Jaye's busy.]
