Room 417, Sunday night

Jaye has managed to clean up a little. Just a teensy bit, considering that as soon as she got back to the cabins and had a double all to herself her possessions kind of exploded. But whatever, company. She leaves the door open.

Alec knocks on the door, poking his head inside. "Jaye!" Grinning, he takes a step inside. "Must be nice, having lots of room to yourself."

"Doesn't suck," she smiles back, waving him in. "How've you been?"

Yes, she's such a clingy date, not seeing a guy for a week.

Alec walks in fully, closing the door. "I've been better," he says candidly, as he moves to sit on one edge of the bed. Because it's more comfortable there, yes. "You?"

"Bored, mostly, but at least there was pudding," she answers. And because she can't not ask... "So... mummies? Or was that John being insane again?"

"Mummies." He nods, leaning back on his hands. "Actual mummies, beetles and giant scorpions. Along with all the things around school." Alec grins. "John may still be insane though."

Jaye smiles at that. "I'm dating a cheerleader who fights mummies. That's just happy."

"I'm glad you approve," he says, amused. Pushing up off the bed, he walks around the room, not so much inspecting as just curious. "Did you ever hear tell your sister about dating a cheerleader?"

"Yep," she says, watching him. "And that I made out with a girl. She's still freaking out at my voicemail."

"Cruel, Jaye," he snickers, glancing over the shelves. "I need more things; my room practically looks like barracks, still."

"Yeah, I didn't really see much of the room. Next date at the Isle of IKEA?" she grins.

"I don't even know what an IKEA is, but it sounds like fun if you'll be there," he says, then focuses quickly elsewhere. "Why do you have all these?" He picks up the lion, peering at its smooshed face more intently than it really deserves.

"They told me to take them," she says automatically. And then, having no idea where that came from, adds, "Most were gifts. Yeah, IKEA's a giant store."

"Do things talk to you often?" He asks, teasing, relieved to get away from his unintentional divulgence. "I could probably use a trip to IKEA, sure."

"Yeah, but not lately." Blink. She wonders if she's been drinking and forgot. "Yeah, they have... a lot of... stuff. IKEA good."

Alec looks at Jaye, then at the lion again. "Does this talk to you?" He holds it at her, like it might obligingly speak suddenly.

"Yes, but not right now." She facepalms, though it may be the beginning of an attempt to cover her mouth.

"What does it say to you, usually?" Alec sets it down, picking up the brass monkey. "Does this one talk to you too?"

"Depends on what it need me to do, and yeah," she says. Okay, yeah, she did mention some of this to Sam, but telling her date about the whole crazy thing wasn't exactly something she'd expected. "I need to shut up."

"Why?" He tilts the monkey, peering at its face, and then pokes at the little book. "I mean, it sounds kind of crazy, but I haven't noticed you burning down buildings or murdering people."

"I don't tell people this," she says, and that part's not exactly a blurt. "And they haven't told me to do those things yet."

"Yet?" He eyes her, then frowns at the monkey. "Why are you telling me, if you don't tell people?"

"I have no idea," she winces. "How freaked out are you?"

"I'm a little freaked out, but it could be worse, and I like you, so I'm willing to forgive some mental instability because I'm not used to people caring enough to talk to me like I'm a human being," he says, then frowns deeply. "What was that?"

"No idea," Jaye says, trying really hard not to be pleased by that. "Why wouldn't I talk to you like a human being? Well, besides that heinous bitch thing I have going on."

"I'm not used to people thinking of me as anything other than a tool meant for killing, taking orders and hiding my own emotions so I don't get singled out for rebellious behavior," he says, frowning still. "Does that freak you ut at all?"

"A little, but I like you, too, so I can deal with it," Jaye answers, still internally gleeing a little. "The talky thing is freaking me out, though. You?"

"Yeah, definitely, since there's things about this week I'd really rather not think about much less blurt out to the girl I'm dating." Alec's eyes widen and he goes to sit on the bed again. "What's doing this, do you think?"

"Fandom," Jaye answers. And she's tempted to ask, but he just said he didn't want to say that, and she's not that much of a bitch. To him, anyway. "Maybe it's a short-lived thing I hope please god?"

"I hope so too," he says, cautiously. "Or the next thing out of my mouth is probably going to be making out with Dean or my complete mental breakdown because Rory decided to read from an ancient book that gave me nightmares." Facepalming seems entirely appropriate, suddenly

"...So anything else you could share to make me feel better?"

"Dirty," she answers, and wow, wasn't expecting that. "We can just shut up and stick to dirty now, right?"

"I'd have sex all the time if I could, so that's a most definite yes," he says. Alec pauses a second, just to make sure there's nothing else coming out, and leans over to make much better use of his mouth by kissing Jaye.

This is much better. And also, this is going to have to be one of those no-talky things because wow, that could just get uncomfortable.
