Room 417, Sunday night

After coming back from the common room, Jaye's... in a weird mood. So she picks up the phone.



"Hey," Mahandra greets her on the other end of the line.

Jaye whimpers into the phone.

"What?"

"I'm flinging again," she says.

Mahandra sighs at her. "Dirty ho."

Jaye's quiet for a minute. "I think I might kind of like him."

"What happened to your only-flinging, no-relationship thing?" she asks.

"I tried, okay? Except the big ho-"

"Which one?"

"Rory."

"Rory's a ho?"

"Yes, Rory's a ho," says Jaye, because she's still pouting. "She flirted with Cam or Crunch or whatever I'm calling him now and-"

"The ho," says Mahandra in a show of BFF solidarity.

"I know! And I know she doesn't mean anything by it, but..."

"You got jealous?"

Long pause. "Shut up."

"Awwww."

"What's wrong with liking a guy?"

Jaye flops onto her bed. "Because I suck. And because I was all cute and stuff with Archie and then I went psycho and I don't want to do that again."

"So you're what, going to stay away from all the guys because of what you might do?" asks Mahandra.

"...Yes."

"Psycho."

"See!"

Mahandra sighs. "You're coming home this weekend, right?"

"Yeah," Jaye says. "The day after my apparent birthday party."

"You're having a birthday party?"

"...He talked me into it."

She can almost hear Mahandra smiling over the phone. "You're soooo far gone."

Jaye whimpers again.

"I'll hang up on you. See you Friday?"

"Yeah," Jaye says. "Talk to you later."

"Bye."



Jaye hangs up, pouts at the ceiling for a minute, then gets up and checks her E-mail.

Where she finds the pictures Rory sent her yesterday. Where there was boykissy. And she missed it.

Jaye kind of hates everything today.
