Okay, the house doesn't look bad decorated. Not that Jaye's getting into anything resembling Christmas spirit or anything, but it looks pretty, that's all. And the bonus is, she had nothing to do with making it pretty.

Christmas Eve means the whole family's around, and Jaye can do without that part. She's sitting in an armchair in jeans and a sweater while everyone else is looking at least slightly dressy, and she's debating just running away to Fandom now, or locking herself in the bathroom to call Sam or Alec and bitch.

When the doorbell rings, no one moves, because Yvette can do that kind of thing. She opens the door, and there's a muffled conversation before Jaye hears her name.

"Maybe they're finally coming to take you away," Aaron says helpfully.

"That would be so nice," says Jaye, making her way to the door.

She's more than a little surprised when she sees that guy there. You know the one. The foreign exchange student she'd met her sophomore year. The one who still sent Christmas cards and if Sharon was to be believed, birthday presents. "Oh, hey... you," she says. She has no idea what his name is.

"Hello, Jaye," he says, all blond hair and smiles. And accents. All Jaye knows is he's not British. "I came to wish you Merry Christmas!"

"I don't really celebrate Christmas," she lies. "I just like the presents."

"Oh," he says, and smiles again, thrusting a brightly-wrapped gift at her. Jaye's totally expecting one of the red-nosed Rudolphs on the paper to wink at her or something. "I brought you a present!"

Hm. Moral dilemma. Kind of. "Thanks," she says, taking it. "Bye!"

He looks like he's about to ask to come in or something, when Jaye almost thinks she hears something. "Did you say something?" she asks, looking at the very still wrapping paper.

"No," the foreign exchange student says.

Jaye watches the paper suspiciously, but it doesn't move. Maybe she's gotten too used to hearing things the second she deals with a new person. "Okay. Good."

"Merry Christmas, Jaye," he says.

"Later, Pedro," she says, closing the door.

It's closed before he can finish saying, "It's Sv-"
