No one knows Wonderfalls right off, because it was on for four episodes before Fox started acting like Fox and axed it. Those bastards. It was a dramedy about a 24-year-old Brown graduate who is overeducated and undermployed. She's got a degree in philosophy but works at a gift shop in Niagara Falls by choice, and lives in a trailer park because she can. She's the youngest in her family (parents Karen and Darrin, sister Sharon and brother Aaron), and the black sheep like woah. Her bff is Mahandra, who is often seen in phone calls.

The reason there's a show is that Jaye starts seeing inanimate objects move, and hears them talk to her. It's always an animal, most commonly a smushed-face wax lion from the gift shop. These animals tell her to do things. She's had to pull purses out of the trash, pull chairs out from under people, throw drinks on people... They're usually cryptic messages and she doesn't usually know what she's trying to accomplish, but bad things happen if she doesn't do them. Or they happen anyway. It always turns out that it all happened for a reason, that these stupid or mean or sometimes humiliating things she does are to actually help someone. It's just at her expense.

Whether Jaye's getting messages from some higher power, or if she really is just crazy remains to be seen. God damn you, Fox.

Beyond that, Jaye's pretty much your everyday normal slacker. She's not a terribly nice person. She can be really mean. (She let Rory think she was crazy when the toaster started talking, and she and Rory are pretty tight.) She doesn't really care who you are or what your issues are, she just wants you to not be difficult at her. In canon she spends most of her time at a bar. Therefore at FH, my girl can drink and will do so. She's snarky, often bitchy, can't deal with your emo, will try to make you do the work rather than do it herself, doesn't care why you want sympathy, and will often poke at people until she's (usually) just this shy of going too far, usually for her own amusement. She will do things differently just to be different, or a brat, or probably for attention. And while she can be a lot of fun, I think she's starting to approach that more cynical worldview already.

How Jaye's animals can help you
While Fandom's Jaye hasn't had the Wonderfalls job yet, she's got the lion. Also the canon brass monkey bookend that she stole from her therapist's office. There are two people anywhere who knows about this. She has her reasons for keeping it a secret. Therefore she's kinda known as the crazy purse talker.

fates_muses) because there are so many of them. I'm the one who comes up with the messages, and at times, I'll ask to ping off myself (not dirty) so the animals can talk. You can't hear the animals, can't see them moving. Only Jaye can do that. However, you can react to Jaye reacting to them.

I don't plot jump, but I do put my girl out there if you need her. The animals have reasons to tell her to do things, so if you think this can help you out with a plot, little, big, whatever, feel free to drop me a line and tell me what you need. All I ask for is about a day in advance so I can make sure she's around, that I have a message for her, and that she has something talkable around. Also, whatever it is she needs to do? It has to turn out positively. It has to. It's canon. And I haven't played with the animals in a while and would love to do so. =)
