Room 417, the Hyperion- Saturday evening

Jaye was spending her Saturday night packing. A bunch of her stuff she'd sent ahead, though let's see how Portalocity handled that, those bastards. And as much as she didn't mind LA (it was weird, which she liked, but it was weird), it would be nice to get back to Fandom (which was also weird).

Maybe she should have let her parents knew she was moving to a different state.

Angel was being loomy in the doorway.

Jaye didn't notice him at first, and it wasn't till she turned in his direction and caught him out of the corner of her eye that she jumped. "You scared me!" she said. "No heart attacks, I can file worker's comp."

"Aren't you quitting?" Angel replied. Because he was still cheap like that.

"Details," she said with a wave of her hand. "Still, no heart attacks. I like my organs in working order and hospital gowns are drafty."

"I'm glad you're going," Angel said.

Pause.

"That sounded more supportive in my head. Honest."

"Oh, good, here I was thinking you weren't going to miss my lack of phone skills and not wanting to work," she nodded.

"I've still got Logan," Angel pointed out. And not like Angel could mock anyone else's lack of phone skills anyway.

"Good point. You'll just have to miss my sunny disposition then." Wow, they really hadn't been an upbeat office, had they?

"Every day," Angel said, deadpan. Which was such a redundant narrative statement. Much like this one.

"So should I be telling everyone in Fandom how much you miss them? Any presents I should be handing out to people that I can secretly keep for myself?"

"Think everyone I know graduated." Which was kind of depressing to think about, actually.

"Oh, don't say that. Then everyone I know might not still be there," she said. "Oh! Xander should still be there!"

"You don't need to say hi to Xander for me," Angel assured her.

"You sure? I can hug him for you."

"You go nuts."

"Yeah, that's not really an issue," Jaye grinned.

"I'm here if ever you need me," Angel told her.

"I know," Jaye assured him. "And if you need anything... well, you can call. No guarantee I can do anything, but hey." And if the animals intervened, it would help things.
